British Lacrosse Women’s Sixes Team Programme

World Lacrosse Sixes [LP comment – this seems to be a bit “orpahned”, not sure it needs to be there]

Hong Kong International Tournament – 28 December to 1 January

British Lacrosse has accepted an invitation to send both men’s and women’s sixes teams to represent Great Britain in the Hong Kong Super Sixes international tournament in December 2023.

This has given us a clear short term focus as we restart the British Lacrosse women’s sixes team programme and begin our preparations for the 2025 World Games in Cheng Du, China.

The below programme of dates (August to December) has been put together after consultation with national teams. We are very keen to work in harmony with each home country, and to avoid duplication and potential player overload.

August 12 & 13: Trials Tournament
September 9 & 10: Season Launch
24 September (Sunday): Training
5 November (Sunday): joint training with BL Men’s team.
9 & 10 December: Final training
26 December – 1 January – HK Super Sixes (you can extend your travel dates if you wish)

Some key points:

  • The costs of flights and accommodation for this tournament are being heavily subsidised to help make the trip affordable
  • We will be taking a squad of 12 players to Hong Kong
  • Following our initial trials / tournament weekend in August we will be looking to select a women’s training squad of 24 to 28 players.
  • 2022 World Games training squad members will be automatically invited, although we are aware of a number of players who have retired, are injured or currently giving priority to family / career / education matters. So please could all players confirm their availability / interest in being involved via the Expression of Interest Form, even if NOT available for the HK tournament. Alternatively, you can email We would love to hear any individual retirement news to be able to celebrate previous contributions to the team on social media.
  • From those players registering their interest, we will invite around 42 to take part in the initial trials / tournament weekend. We recognise the short notice ahead of that weekend, and so there will be some flexibility applied for any players who already have commitments on those dates. Attending for just one of the two days, for example.
  • BL staff team: Phil Collier (Head Coach), Kate Nelson-Lee (Manager), Ailsa Stott (Asst Coach), Andy Jones (Physio), Rich Lalor (S&C), Erica Erb (Coaching Asst)

These are exciting times for lacrosse as the game continues to grow across the world. I look forward to hearing from those players who are keen to be involved with one of the top four women’s sixes teams in the world as we follow the Olympic dream.

Expressions of interest will be accepted until 28th July  with invitations to the trials/tournament weekend extended on August 3.

We want selection to be an open process, and so any eligible players (see Selection Policy) are invited to submit an application / register their interest using this link or the QR code below
