Head Coach – Tom Wenham
Tom brings his extensive experience to this role. Having played lacrosse for England, captaining the team to a European Championship gold medal in 2000, Tom started coaching in 2004. His journey has now seen him coach England at various age groups and in a number of roles at five world championships. He coached the team to a European Championship gold medal in Budapest in 2016 and most recently to a 5th placed finish at the 2018 World Cup. Tom played for England in three European and one World Championships and has been an international coach for over 15 years. His first national role was as an assistant coach and defensive specialist with the England Men’s field team for the 2006 World Championships; roles he repeated in the 2010 and 2014 World Championships. During this period, he was also Head Coach of the England U19 team, coaching the team to the bronze medal game against a talented Iroquois team. In 2014, Tom was appointed Head Coach of the England Men’s team, leading to a gold medal at the European Championships in Hungary in 2016 and finishing 5th at the World Championships in Israel, 2018. Tom is Head Coach of the U15 England National Academy and alongside his coaching roles with England and British Lacrosse, he is a tutor and mentor on the England Lacrosse Talent Coach course.
Outside of lacrosse Tom lectures at undergraduate and postgraduate level in high performance coaching, performance analysis and leadership.
Assistant Coach – Ravi K. Sitlani
Ravi has 30+ years of lacrosse coaching and management experience within both the men’s and women’s game ranging from juniors, club, county, and international. He has been on numerous England tours and has been part of the coaching staff at 3 European (2004, 2008, 2016) and 4 World Championships (2002, 2006, 2010, 2018). Ravi is also regarded as one of England’s finest goalkeeping coaches and has been involved in elite programs in the UK and the US, including the NAVY positional camp for over a decade.
Assistant Coach – Andy Downing
Andy started in the field format of the game but following recognition at international level as a player he has turned his attention to coaching and developing Box lacrosse in the UK. He is currently an integral part of the coaching staff for the England Box team.
